Ankleshwar, (અંકલેશ્વર) is a city and a municipality in the Bharuch district of the state of Gujarat, India. The city is located approximately ten kilometres from Bharuch.
Ankleshwar is known for its industrial township called GIDC (Gujarat Industrial Development Corporation), which is one of the biggest in Asia. Ankleshwar also has an office of the ONGC (Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited). It is located on the other side of the river Narmada and not far from the river Tapi. Today, Ankleshwar has over 5000 big and small chemical plants.
Ankleshwar is well connected by Indian National Highway 8 (Mumbai to New Delhi) and by the Western Railway Division of Indian Railways.
The 132 year-old Golden Bridge connects Ankleshwar to Bharuch across the Narmada on the station front while a new bridge connects the highway.
The city has a sizeable Muslim population, 50,000.
In such a marvelous town, there was not any big Darul Uloom to provide the Muslim children with Islamic education in the area. So after much thought, the Management of Darul Uloom Markaze Islami decided to establish this Darul Uloom in Ankleshwar.
